Frequently asked questions

What is a CMMS?

A computerised maintenance management system: software that holds your asset register, plans preventive maintenance, runs work orders, manages spare parts and reports on reliability and cost. PieCMMS is a CMMS.

Can PieCMMS connect to our SCADA or historian?

Yes. Readings are posted to the PieCMMS readings API over HTTPS with an integration key, in batches of up to 500, with each SCADA tag mapped to an asset and meter. Most plants use a small forwarder such as Node-RED, an Ignition gateway script or a historian export on a schedule.

Can maintenance be scheduled by run hours instead of dates?

Yes. A schedule can use run hours, cycles or any counter you define, a calendar interval, or both, and the work order is raised by whichever falls due first.

Can operators report breakdowns without a user account?

Yes. Print a QR label for each machine or line. Anyone who scans it can report a fault with photos, and the report enters the maintenance queue with a response deadline.

Does it calculate MTBF and MTTR?

Yes. The reliability view shows mean time between failures, mean time to repair, PM compliance, downtime and cost for any period, site or asset type, with the exact definition of each figure beside it.

Can we manage several plants?

Yes. Each plant is a site with its own location tree, and managers can see one plant or all of them.
